Terms of Service

Effective Date: 1 June 2025  ·  Jurisdiction: United Arab Emirates

Key notice:  AskTasker does not employ taskers. Visa and work-permit obligations rest solely with the individual.

Visa & Work Permit Disclaimer

AskTasker is a technology platform only. We are not an employer, recruitment agency, or labour sponsor. The platform does not provide, arrange, or guarantee any form of UAE employment visa, work permit, freelance licence, or residency status. Any individual offering services through this platform is solely responsible for ensuring they hold all legally required authorisations under UAE Federal Law. Failure to comply with UAE immigration or labour regulations is the exclusive legal responsibility of the individual concerned.

1. About AskTasker

AskTasker (operating at AskTasker.com, hereinafter "the Platform", "we", "us", or "our") is a digital marketplace operated in the United Arab Emirates that connects individuals who need tasks completed ("Task Posters") with independent service providers ("Taskers"). The Platform is governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AskTasker — whether by registering an account, posting a task, submitting an offer, or browsing the Platform — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement under the laws of the United Arab Emirates, including but not limited to Federal Decree-Law No. 5 of 2012 on Combatting Cybercrimes and Federal Law No. 1 of 2006 on Electronic Commerce and Transactions.

3. Nature of the Platform

AskTasker operates solely as an intermediary technology platform. We facilitate connections between Task Posters and Taskers but are not a party to any agreement formed between them.

  • AskTasker is not an employer of any Tasker listed on the Platform.
  • AskTasker is not a recruitment agency as defined under UAE law.
  • AskTasker is not a labour supplier and does not hold any manpower supply licence.
  • Any contract for services is formed directly between the Task Poster and the Tasker.
  • AskTasker does not supervise, direct, or control how Taskers perform their services.

4. Visa, Work Permits & Legal Work Authorisation

Critical Legal Notice

This section constitutes an important legal disclaimer under UAE law. Please read it carefully.

4.1 Platform's Position

AskTasker does not sponsor, provide, arrange, or in any way facilitate the issuance of UAE employment visas, work permits, residency visas, freelance permits, or any other form of immigration or work authorisation. The Platform has no obligation, duty of care, or liability — whether direct, indirect, or consequential — with respect to any Tasker's visa status or legal right to work in the UAE.

4.2 Tasker's Legal Responsibility

Every individual who registers as a Tasker on the Platform warrants and represents that, at all times while offering or performing services, they:

  • Hold a valid UAE residency visa or entry permit that legally permits them to reside in the UAE;
  • Hold a valid UAE work permit, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their sponsor, freelance licence, or other legally recognised authorisation to offer paid services in the UAE;
  • Are in full compliance with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Labour Relations and its executive regulations;
  • Are in full compliance with Federal Law No. 6 of 1973 on Immigration and Residence and all subsequent amendments;
  • Comply with any applicable Emirate-level licensing requirements (e.g., Dubai Economic Department, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development).

4.3 Indemnification

Any Tasker who offers or performs services without valid legal work authorisation in the UAE does so entirely at their own risk and legal peril. AskTasker expressly disclaims all liability for any fines, penalties, deportation, criminal proceedings, civil claims, or other consequences arising from a Tasker's failure to hold valid immigration or work authorisation. The Tasker agrees to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AskTasker, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or expenses arising out of such non-compliance.

4.4 Platform's Right to Report

AskTasker reserves the right to co-operate with UAE authorities, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), if we become aware of potential breaches of UAE immigration or labour law.

5. User Eligibility

To use AskTasker, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Be legally present in the UAE or accessing the Platform from a jurisdiction where its use is lawful;
  • Provide accurate, truthful, and complete registration information;
  • Not have been previously suspended or banned from the Platform.

6. Tasker Obligations

As a Tasker, you agree to:

  • Maintain all necessary UAE work authorisations at all times (see Section 4);
  • Provide services honestly, professionally, and to a reasonable standard of skill and care;
  • Honour accepted offers and complete tasks as agreed with the Task Poster;
  • Disclose any professional licensing requirements applicable to your service category (e.g., electrical work, medical services) and hold all relevant licences;
  • Not misrepresent your skills, qualifications, or identity;
  • Comply with all applicable UAE health and safety regulations when on-site;
  • Not engage in off-platform fee arrangements intended to circumvent Platform policies.

7. Task Poster Obligations

As a Task Poster, you agree to:

  • Post tasks that are lawful under UAE law and do not violate public order or morals;
  • Provide accurate task descriptions, budgets, and location information;
  • Pay the agreed amount to the Tasker upon satisfactory completion of the task;
  • Not request services that require professional licensing without confirming the Tasker holds such a licence;
  • Treat Taskers with dignity and respect, in accordance with the values of the UAE.

8. Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on AskTasker:

  • Posting tasks that are illegal under UAE Federal or Emirate law;
  • Soliciting, facilitating, or engaging in undocumented or unlicensed labour;
  • Any form of discrimination based on nationality, religion, gender, or race, in violation of UAE law;
  • Harassment, abuse, or threatening behaviour towards any Platform user;
  • Providing false information or impersonating another person;
  • Attempting to defraud Task Posters or Taskers;
  • Scraping, reverse-engineering, or attacking the Platform's systems;
  • Using the Platform to facilitate money laundering or financing of illegal activities, in breach of Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018 on Anti-Money Laundering.

9. Payments & Fees

Payment terms are agreed directly between the Task Poster and the Tasker. AskTasker may introduce platform service fees in the future, which will be communicated with reasonable notice. All prices are displayed and transacted in UAE Dirhams (AED) unless otherwise stated.

AskTasker is not responsible for disputes arising from non-payment, partial payment, or disagreements over the quality of work. Users are encouraged to resolve payment disputes directly; however, AskTasker may, at its sole discretion, provide a mediation mechanism.

10. Disputes Between Users

Disputes between Task Posters and Taskers are the responsibility of the parties involved. AskTasker is not obligated to intervene but may assist in good faith. For unresolved disputes, users may seek recourse through the relevant UAE consumer protection authority or civil courts.

Labour disputes between a Task Poster acting as an employer and a Tasker are explicitly outside the scope of AskTasker's involvement and must be referred to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) or the relevant court.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted under UAE law, AskTasker shall not be liable for:

  • Any loss, damage, injury, or harm arising from a Tasker's services;
  • Any violation of UAE immigration, labour, or licensing law by a Tasker or Task Poster;
  • Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind;
  • Loss of income, profits, data, or business opportunity;
  • The conduct, actions, or omissions of any Platform user.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, AskTasker's total liability to any user shall not exceed the lesser of AED 500 or the amount paid to AskTasker in the three months preceding the claim.

12. Intellectual Property

All content on the AskTasker platform — including branding, design, code, and text — is the intellectual property of AskTasker and protected under Federal Law No. 38 of 2021 on Copyrights and Neighbouring Rights. Users may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.

13. Privacy & Data Protection

We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and in compliance with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection. By using AskTasker, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Account Suspension & Termination

AskTasker reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account — at its sole discretion and without prior notice — if a user:

  • Breaches any provision of these Terms;
  • Is found to be operating without valid UAE work authorisation;
  • Engages in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal conduct;
  • Is subject to legal proceedings in the UAE.

Users may terminate their own accounts at any time by contacting support. Termination does not affect any outstanding obligations or liabilities.

15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, UAE, unless the parties mutually agree to alternative dispute resolution.

AskTasker reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
